Obituary of Byron Hale Stoddard
Byron Hale Stoddard was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on Dec. 18, 1939 to Verner Lee Stoddard & Dorothy (Dora Jacobs) Stoddard. They lived in Spencer, Idaho until October 1942 when the family moved to Price, Utah. The family moved to Dragerton, Utah now called East Carbon City in 1948. He was baptized into the LDS church. Byron graduated from Carbon High School & Carbon College. Then he earned a BS degree in psychology at Weber State College in Ogden, Utah. He attended Stockholm College in Sweden. He was also in the National Guard for 8 years.
Byron was a reader & collector of many, many, books. He was also, athletic, & a talented oil painter. He participated in baseball, football, wrestling, & boxing. Later, he was an award winning skeet shooter. Working with special needs clients and coaching Special Olympics was his favorite career choice.
Byron was a joy to be around. He was fun, funny, a great dancer & socializer. He loved friends, family, & good visits. Also, he loved root beer floats, V-8 juice, & his dogs Bosco & Jessica.
He married Anita Que’re Jensen from Brittany France in September of 1969. Later divorced. He married Marlene Woodard Lavake on Nov. 9, 2004. She passed away Jan. 15, 2014 in Clearfield, Utah.
Byron passed away Mon. Sept. 26, 2016 at 6pm at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield, Utah. He was selected as the “Senior Prom” King there in Feb. 2015. We appreciate the staff there for their exceptional care & to the Hospice nurses. Byron passed away from heart problems & pneumonia.
We will miss his smile, wit & upbeat personality, & treasure the memories of many good times spent together.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother Rondo Sam Stoddard. Survived by 2 sisters Brenda Stoddard (Lindsey) Darts of Roy, Utah & Sharon Stoddard Beck of American Fork, Utah and loving nieces, nephews & cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held later.
