Obituary of Loretta Young

Loretta Ann Young returned to her Heavenly Father on Oct 23, 2016. She was born June 18, 1954 in Salt Lake City Utah to Horst and Marianne Young who had emigrated from Germany in 1953. She was the 2nd of 3 three children. Loretta was one of Heavenly Father’s special children that is now free of the limitations that hindered her earthly life. She is now reunited with her Daddy and is laughing, singing, dancing and sharing stories as she missed him dearly for many years. Growing up, Loretta loved to talk, tell stories, reminisce and laugh. She enjoyed swimming, hiking, speaking German, and had a love for singing, music, her records, magazines and movies. Loretta competed in the Special Olympics and even won a gold medal in swimming. She enjoyed her time spent at the Columbus School and Camp Kostopulos. Loretta lived at home with her family until age 21 and then moved to a group home where she enjoyed her independence. Loretta was a member of the LDS church and was sealed to her family the Mount Timpanogos Temple 2005. Loretta most recently lived at the Utah State Development Center in American Fork since 1989. A special thanks to Loretta’s friends and caregivers at USDC, and especially Leann Woodbury, for the many years of friendship and care they showed to Loretta. Loretta looked forward to and enjoyed her weekly visits with her Mom, sister Monika, faithful friends Erika, Evelyn and Schatzi and other dear friends over the years. Loretta was preceded in death by her father Horst L. Young. She is survived by her mother, Marianne Young and her two siblings, Monika Young Olschewski, Richard J. (Leah) Young and her 2 nieces and 5 nephews. Funeral services provided by Anderson & Sons Mortuary. Viewing/Visitation 10:45-11:45, Services at 12:00 noon on Wednesday November 2nd at the USDC chapel located at 835 North 900 East, American Fork. Internment following at the Salt Lake City Cemetery 200 N, E St, SLC.
