Obituary of Geraldine Schultz Pinckney
Geraldine Schultz Pinckney was born October 31, 1935 in Pioche, Nevada (she was everybody's favorite Witchy Poo, and she dressed up every Halloween) and raised in Oakland, California. She graduated from Castlemont HS in 1953 and went to work for Clorox and Sunshine Biscuit Company saving her money to attend Brigham Young University in the fall of 1954. While at BYU she competed in diving and was a cheerleader. She met George H Pinckney Jr., from Alameda, California while at the BYU. They married in 1956 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. After George completed his education at BYU, they did a stint in the USMC in Quantico, Virginia, and settled in Costa Mesa, California in 1960. Together they raised five children. Gerrie’s love of fashion became a reality in 1972, she and her business partner Marge Swenson opened up the Fashion Academy. This is where Gerrie’s uncanny sense of style came together and she developed her “Total Wardrobe Plan” which included her development of the seasonal concept. People came from all over the world to find out “what colors and style look best on them”. She traveled and lectured all over the world, and changed the lives of so many giving them the confidence they need to succeed. She retired in 1995 and in 1996 she and George left Costa Mesa and served an LDS mission in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1999 they served another mission, this time in San Juan, Puerto Rico. They enjoyed serving the Lord in these areas and made many friends. After the death of her husband, Gerrie resided in Utah, spending the last six years living with her son in Lehi. Gerrie leaves a legacy of incredible fashion sense, undeniable faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and an example of service to her fellow man. Her children: Sheri Barlow, George H Pinckney lll, Jack Pinckney, Douglas Pinckney and Steven Pinckney, 18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren are forever grateful for her undying love, humor, tenacity, love of the gospel of Jesus Christ and being a tremendous example of faith. Gerrie passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017. She was just shy of her 82nd birthday. It will be a sad Halloween without Witchy Poo this year! Until we meet again, We love you and will miss you! God speed!
