Obituary of Jay Glen McDonald

Jay Glen McDonald, 81, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side January 29, 2017. He was born March 9, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Francis Glen McDonald and Sarah Elizabeth Hoagland. He was a graduate of Utah State University with a Masters Degree in Art. He married Darla Ann Bickmore on August 27, 1960 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Jay worked as an art teacher, he enjoyed painting, reading, and gardening, had a dry wit and led a selfless life of service. Jay was active in the LDS Church. He enjoyed serving in many callings, as a missionary in the Northern Mexico Mission, a Bishop, in the Stake Presidency in Lancaster, CA, Counselor in the San Fernando, CA Mission, and temple ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple. He was a great Father and Husband. Jay is survived by his wife Darla, his children, Kim (Charles) Shackett, Janae (Shayne, deceased) Copeland, Chad McDonald, Lauren (Ryan) Tingey, Garett (Melissa) McDonald, Brooke (Tom) Allen, 16 grandchildren, brother Scott McDonald and brother Kim McDonald. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Brent McDonald. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Saratoga Hills 7th Ward Chapel, 1273 Regal View Drive, Saratoga Springs UT, 84045. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Please share a memory at andersonmortuary.com.
