Carol Rands Fessler

Obituary of Carol Elaine Rands Fessler

Carol Elaine Rands Fessler, residing in Hemet, CA passed away early Sunday morning January 7th 2018 at the age of 82, 4 days prior to her 83rd Birthday. Carol died at Hemet Valley Medical Center from Acute Hypoxic Respiratory Failure, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and The Flu. Carol was the oldest child of Morrell Roland Rands and Josephine Annie Watkins and was born in Ogden Utah. She was married to Glenn Fredric Fessler in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Together they raised 5 children. Carol was preceded in death by her Husband Glenn Fessler and Daughter Valli Dawn Fessler Corrigan. Carol is survived by her sons Burt Alan Fessler, Mark Brian Fessler and Wesley Warren Fessler and her daughter Vicki Linn Fessler Korth. She is also survived by her sister Sherry Rands Chao. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and counting. Carol was a devoted and loving mother who sacrificed her personal time and talents to make sure her children were blessed with the things she thought they needed. Most importantly was providing a home her children would be comfortable bringing their friends to and she treated them all like one of her own. She always had freshly baked cookies, brownies and other snacks ready and all felt welcome when coming to the Fessler home. Everyone who met Carol instantly became one of her friends. Carol’s home was the place that family and friends gathered for holidays and special events. Later in her life Carol developed Type 2 Diabetes which began to take a toll on her physical body, ultimately resulting in the loss of most of her eyesight, the loss and disfiguration of her toes and feet. She also developed skin cancer which took one of her ears and a portion of her nose. Despite being unable to walk, read, cook, or drive for many years she loved to visit with her family and those around her at her assisted living facilities. Through it all she never gave up hope that one day the medical doctors would come up with a treatment that would allow her to walk and see again. On Friday January 5th Carol was feeling under the weather and while talking with her caregiver she turned pale, her lips turned blue and ultimately, she stopped breathing. Paramedics were immediately called and she was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center. The emergency staff was able to revive Carol and she was placed on a ventilator for life support. Her advanced directives stated that Carol did not want to be put on life support and once the doctors in the ICU received a copy of her advanced directive from her son Burt she was taken off life support Saturday afternoon and succumbed to her condition. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Hemet Valley Hospital, as well as at Brookdale Assisted Living in Hemet, CA, The Charleston Assisted Living in Cedar Hills, UT, and River Meadows Assisted Living in Alpine, UT. Carol will be missed by all who knew her particularly her surviving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sister. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe that while Carol has left this life she is now freed from her physical limitations and awaits the remainder of her family to join her when their mission upon the earth is complete. We take comfort in knowing that Carol is not lost to us forever and that in the Lord’s good time we will be rejoined with Carol and our families that have left this life. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Hollow 5th Ward, 1020 East 1900 North, Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held Monday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Lehi Cemetery. Please share a memory at andersonmortuary.com.
