I was a year older in school than Dennis and we had very little contact until about 10 years ago when we started hanging out, playing pool and even took a road trip together. I hadn't talked to Dennis for a few months, it was hard to catch him during his " I'll take a call hours", but last Wednesday night I did talk to him for about 30 minutes and we talked about his health, a trip I was planning and a reminder that I owed him a burger and was expected to pay up as soon as he got feeling better. Dennis had a rough exterior, but a big heart and once you got to know him he was fun to be around. My sympathy to Elsa and girls.

Dennis and I spent many many hours cold and wet slogging around Utahs many marshes. We scared more ducks than we harvested and enjoyed it all. We met at the College of Southern Utah, became friends, and drank untold gallons of coffe at Corlissens cafe. I,m sorry you're gone.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your loved one, Dennis. May you find comfort in the words written at John 6:40, where God promises to bring back to life those we have lost in death by means of a resurrection. In the future He will also eliminate our enemy, death. (Isaiah 25:8) This gives us the wonderful hope of being reunited with our loved ones, forever. Until then, I hope the memories of Dennis and these promises from God comfort you in the days ahead.

I used to tend bar at the star saloon. That is where I first met Dennis. At first I thought he was mean... he also whipped his cane on the floor to insist on his refill of coffee! Later on this became tradition and I'd tell him he would have to wait even longer if he made that loud noise! He was a hoot! Over the years we became great friends. I knew anytime I needed to talk he was there. He always made sure that I was okay and always asked how my son was and what interests he had at his age. He made sure to load my purse with candy and said to share with my boy! With a kiss to his cheek I always left feeling loved. He shared stories of his life and when asked how he was feeling he would say "okay" or "I haven't been taken yet" with a sarcastic sigh and smile. Dennis was what I would call an angel on earth. Once you got past the hard exterior he was a giant Teddy Bear! I loved him and will sure miss him.
I pray his wife, daughters and family peace at this difficult time. May you know he is at rest and in Comfort.
