Obituary of Shirely Jane Beck Nash
Shirley Jane Beck Nash was born April 4, 1929 in Provo Utah the youngest of 5 children born to James Vern Beck and Gladys Johnson Beck. She passed away on February 9th 2018 after a valiant fight with cancer.
Shirley spent her childhood in American Fork, graduating from American Fork high school in 1947. Her youth was filled with wonderful memories from the time that she spent in her beloved American Fork Canyon with her family, where they grazed their sheep.
Music was her passion. She was an accomplished violinist and played in many symphonies throughout the state. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ, loved to hike in American Fork Canyon, animals of all kinds, reading, and she adored her grand-children and the Utah Jazz.
Shirley enjoyed many different careers, her favorite was working as a Senior Companion and Foster Grandparent in Eagle Mountain where she resided for 10 years.
She married Douglas Nash in 1947. Together they had two children. They later divorced.
She is member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She never missed a day of reading the scriptures.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers: Jay Beck, Kenneth Beck, sisters: Willa Beck and Afton Bullock, and granddaughter Jessica Nash.
She is survived by son Gregory Nash (Myrle), Eagle Mountain; daughter Cheryl Brown (Phil), Lindon; grand-children Jeni, Chase, Chelsey, Courtney, Cayden, Ryan, Shane and great grand-children Avalon, Adalee, Bostyn, Nash, McCoy, Cameron, Carson, and Teryn.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 14th from 12:45 – 1:45 at Anderson and Sons Mortuary 49 East 100 North American Fork, Utah followed by graveside services at the American Fork Cemetery at 2:00.
