I will never forget your mom and dad. They made this young college girl from Indiana feel welcome and cared about when being homesick kicked in.
They could not believe I moved to Salt Lake without knowing a soul. Looking back, neither can I. I was so greatful for their hugs and encouragement. They were two wonderful people who lived their faith every day. Very much like my own mom and dad.

I worked with Miss Shirley at Adventure Preschool for close to 30yrs. We were great friends & enjoyed
many great times together. I especially enjoyed
the good teacher lunches/dinners we had together.
I loved working at the school, teaching the many children that's came through. I pray for Shirley and Sandy's family that they may find peace & comfort knowing their parents/grandparents are together again.
Love, Miss Linda❤️❤️

Miss Shirley was the absolute best! She was my first teacher and my first employer. After I went there my mom, "Miss Jeannine," started working there. I remember times when I would be sick and had to stay home from school and Miss Shirley would let my mom bring me and hang out while my mom worked. I remember one time pretty clearly watching The Mighty Ducks in the basement. When I was little I also remember when she would take me to lunch for my birthday. Then when I was older, my first job was vacuuming Adventure Preschool after I was done with school for several years. She was so loving and always happy and seemed to never age! Her musical talent was amazing as well, whether using it to teach at the preschool or playing the organ at church. Plus she had the best pumpkin chocolate chip recipe - which made coming back to work there even better since I'd get some every fall! My condolences to her family. I know she will be missed by all.

Oh the memories I have of Miss Shirley and Adventure Preschool. Five of my six children went to her fantastic preschool. Two of my grandchildren also went there. I also had the pleasure of working there for 14 years, and my Matthew who Shirley had a special place in her heart for worked there for several years cleaning the school everyday after school. I enjoyed working with her and visiting with Sandy as well They were special people. My condolences to the family, but so happy Shirley and Sandy are together again. They will be both be missed by many.

Our boys were blessed by Miss Shirley both in preschool and the ward. When Andrew was in kindergarten, he came home one day and said he wanted to go back to Miss Shirley's because it was more fun and he missed her. She served our family in so many ways and was always willing to share her amazing musical talents, including at my father's funeral. We love Sandy and Shirley and miss them both. What great people! Prayers to your family.

I loved Shirley! She was our Scout Leader when I was a Stake Primary President in the Butler West Stake back in the 1970's. She helped make marvelous flip charts to train new scout leaders, Priesthood leaders, and Primary Presidents. It was only natural that I would call her to be my Counselor when the vacancy occurred in 1975. She was wonderful and stood by me until she and Sandy moved out of the stake.
Years later I ran into her at Dan's grocery and she told me she had been called to be a Stake Primary President in her new stake. I'm so glad they recognized her talents--because she had many.

When I was 9 I went to Shirley and LaMar's wedding reception in Elko. It was magical. She looked like a princess. Their cake was something I have never forgotten-- layers wrapped in satiny candy ribbons with bows. I even remember her sisters dressed in beautiful green dresses! And of course, Uncle LaMar was handsome, too? They even rode in an amazing black and white carriage with red interior. (I think it was a 1957 Chevrolet convertible. ). Ah, sweet memories of the people I love!!

Oh how we loved Miss Shirley. We were so fortunate to have her teach all four of our children in preschool. They loved her and what a love for learning she instilled in them. I was fortunate also to be one of her counselors in the Stake Primary. She loved the Lord and was a choice daughter of our Heavenly Father. I am sure she leaves a great family legacy

I loved Miss Shirley. They lived a few houses away from me growing up and my older brothers went to Miss Shirley's and they adored her and although she was totally booked when the time came for me to go to Pre-school, I loved and adored her too. She was such a light and such an amazing person. I have talked to many people over the years after driving by her house on the way to my house growing up, people would point excitedly and ask if I knew Miss Shirley?!! Condolences to the family. You had amazing parents you should be very proud of. I loved reading about her life. I can't make it Saturday, I am out of state right now, but I will be thinking of you all.

I'm so saddened for the family's loss and want to thank you for sharing her with thousands of children, who lovingly called her Miss Shirley. I'd often wondered about her after the home was sold.
I'm ever grateful for the love and compassion that she showed my Tyler, and countless others in the neighborhood.. Ty did graduate, Miss Shirley!
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. I will miss her beautiful smile..
