Obituary of Alice Cleo Mack Jorgensen

Alice Mack Jorgensen, 95, died peacefully of natural causes incident to age, January 11, 2018, surrounded by her daughters.

Alice was born August 14, 1922, in Ogden, UT, to Atrilla and Ruby Mack. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Riverside , CA, where she enjoyed a wonderful childhood. Although she lived in many places, she always said she was a “California girl.” She loved being by the ocean.

She graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1940. She worked as an assistant to a local doctor and did everything that today’s nurses do.

While living in Riverside, she met her future husband Lt. Glade Jorgensen, from American Fork, UT, at a church activity. He was serving in the Army Air Corp at March Field in Riverside. They carried on their courtship by mail while he served as a bomber pilot during WWII. They were married in Riverside on May 12, 1943, and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple a week later.

Alice and Glade settled in the San Francisco Bay area. They built several homes, and she participated actively in the construction. They became the parents of four daughters. Alice will be remembered for the many family traditions she created that are still practiced today by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Alice served in several leadership positions in the LDS Church, including Ward and Stake RS President. In 1972, she organized a choir of 350 women from the Palo Alto Stake to sing in General Conference in Salt Lake City, UT.

Alice and Glade served in the Auckland, New Zealand mission in 1987. They served many years in the Timpanogos Temple. Alice was an avid genealogist.

Alice was a devoted grandmother. Her humor, creativity and loving touch were shared with everyone, family or not. Her home was an open door to all.  She remained sweet and loving to the end. She never complained, never spoke an unkind word and thanked everyone for the care given in her behalf.

Alice is survived by her three sisters, Elaine Whitlock, June Walker and Marilyn Raymer; her four daughters Gail (Judd) Hixson, Connie (Doug) Howard, Alisa Nelson, Marlaine (Matt) Wray; 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
