Obituary of Dennis Vaughn Earl

Dennis Vaughn Earl Dennis passed away in the afternoon of January 10th, 2018. The first of four children, Dennis was born in Salt Lake City’s Holy Cross Hospital to Alma and Irene Earl of American Fork, Utah on December 15th, 1942 at 3:40pm. He is preceded in death by Bonnie Argyle (Sister), Calvin Earl (Brother), Sharon Earl (Spouse), and is survived by Sharon Bass (Sister). As a youth, Dennis became very proficient on the Saxophone. He also developed a strong affinity for electricity and tinkering from his Grandfather. Dennis graduated from American Fork High School in 1961. He served as President of the JC’s and later served in the Army National Guard from 1961 to 1969 as an Expert Weapons Specialist. During this time, Dennis met Sharon Robertson, married, and remained in American Fork raising a family of four surviving children: Tonya Ackerman, Kimberly Gauer, Pamela Spier, and Nathan Earl. After working in the construction field for a number of years Dennis began a fulfilling career at U.S. Steel (Geneva) where he worked as an electrician for 25 years meanwhile attaining a Degree in Electronics Engineering through Welteck College’s apprenticeship program. Once Geneva closed in 1987, he went back to school at Utah Valley Community College to earn a Robotic and Automated Systems Degree. Not long after, he took over his Father’s farming operation raising cattle and hay. Dennis enjoyed many hobbies such as; hunting, fishing, wood-work, auto restoration, coin, stamp, and gun collecting. He also had a deep affection and ability to care for animals including: a ferret, a parrot, fish, turtles, dogs, chickens, geese, racoons, and horses. Those who knew Dennis well will remember his extreme mechanical intelligence, his peculiar humorous phrases, his endless physical energy, his ability to build and repair just about anything, and his willful persistence in overcoming many difficult personal and physical challenges. He will be deeply missed and loved. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in American Fork Cemetery. Please share a memory at andersonmortuary.com.
